Why Wellness & Health?
Wellness is a lot more than being disease free; it is the state of being at our healthiest in every aspect of our lives (e.g. mental, physical, and emotional).
Obtaining and maintaining a high level of health is essential to live with a high quality of life. Everything we do—from the food we choose to eat to the relationships we choose to maintain—affect our well-being. In turn, our well-being influences our ability to perform activities of daily living. As a result, it is necessary for everybody to obtain maximum wellness to be able to overcome tension, lessen the threat of health issues and maintain healthy relationships.
Physical wellness includes many considerations. This is a short set of the main elements to consider:
- Exercise: including flexibility, strength, and endurance
- Nutrition and diet plan: including nutrient and fluid consumption, and digestion health
- Relaxation techniques such as meditation and massage
- Sleep and rest: involves regular sleep and rest, specifically sleep of high quality
